My family and I marathoned Parks and Rec a few years ago on Netflix. In a couple of episodes, several of the characters had a Treat Yo’self day. My daughters and I thought is was the coolest thing ever! We said we were going to save up money throughout the year and have a Treat Yo’self day. Of course, that never happened, but I was able to do something like it on my own.
Last Christmas, one of my exercise classes, chipped in and got me a $50 Visa gift card as a present. I thought about what I wanted to buy with it but kept changing my mind. Time went by, and nothing seemed worthy of it. I had rules for myself. I didn’t want to buy something that I could justify in my budget. If I needed new clothes, I needed them. That’s not present worthy! Eventually, I started using the card for little things; a secret movie, lunch out by myself just because I didn’t feel like eating at home, a sweet treat without sharing. It has been so fun! I have these little secret adventures just because I can. I am selective with my adventures so I can make the card last. I actually still have a little bit left on the card.
I encourage you guys to do your own Treat Yo’self. It can be a day you save up for or little treats every once in a while. It really is a small way to add some delight to your life.
