Blog: Service

From Lisa:

I lost a dear friend this week, way before his time.  The kind of man we should all strive to be.  Full of life, joy and positive energy.  I could write a thousand words and still not completely convey the amazing man he was.  BUT, I can pass on his secret.

Each day, when he awoke, he set out to make a positive impact on someone’s life. For each person he met throughout the day, he would listen and try to figure out how he could make their day better.  It may simply be by listening to their story.  It may be offering them assistance with a problem or praying for their circumstances.  Regardless what it was, he set his priorities straight and kept his focus on serving those around him.  Service wasn’t just something he did on Sundays or during special community service events.  Service was his middle name.  He served others all day, every day.

Wow, what a concept.  What a perspective change. Instead of wondering how you could carve out time to serve others, just start serving all of the time.  What a great way to stay out of your own head, focused on your own struggles. What a beautiful way to make a positive impact in the lives of many and to glorify God.  Can you imagine what our world would look like if we all followed this man’s lead?  Let’s give it a try.
