One thing I’ve learned as I’ve gotten older, is to stop thinking in absolutes. I can’t tell you the number of times I claimed that I would absolutely NEVER _____! And then, of course, I had to eat my words. There is a time and place for being resolute in our goals, for not giving up, for sticking to our guns. The problem is that we often do that without re-evaluating our position. Perception is a big part of life. It stands to reason that as people and events in our life change, so will our thoughts and goals.
I encourage you today to think about some of your perceptions about your life. Think about your current goals. Think about where you stand on things. Do these positions still reflect where you are today? Are you being stubborn about changing your mind on thoughts that no longer serve you? Are you letting fear of change dictate your choices?
It’s absolutely okay to look at where you are in life, think about your positions, and decide that you still believe in them. It’s also okay to look at where you are in life, think about your positions, and decide that your current choices are based on old perceptions that no longer serve you.
