Years ago, when I sought help dealing with my abusive childhood, I had a counselor ask me how I was so emotionally healthy. She said that a large percentage of people in my situation either perpetuate the abuse cycle or self numb with drugs or other unhealthy behavior. At the time, I wasn’t able to pinpoint the answer. I think I have it now, though. It’s hope!
In order for us to be motivated to changes big and small, there has to be hope for a better situation. Give some thought to your life. Are there unhealthy habits you want to break? Is there something you want to heal? Where do you want positive changes in your life? The first step is believing it’s possible.
